For the past five months, many of you have wondered about the future of Hub Comics. We are pleased to announce that stewardship of the shop has transferred to a new owner. While we are still sad about the passing of Hub founder James Welborn, the store is on stable ground and the future of comic books and graphic novels in Union Square looks bright.

Our name “Hub Comics” stays the same, as does the friendly and relaxed atmosphere you’ve come to know. Stalwart manager Jesse stays on, as does Dave twice per week, while new hire Jack takes over Sundays. And our regular events continue, including Tuesday Game Night, our occasional Disasterpiece Theatre movie screening, and our annual “Dark Knight on a Dark Night” art show.

Bub the dog has been adopted into a new forever home and makes regular visits.

New owner Tim Finn, friend of the store and Somerville resident of seven years, is excited to help guide Hub into its next era. Tim is a longtime reader, maker, and teacher of comics. By now you’ve probably noticed a new coat of paint and our beautiful new bookshelves inside. A few more renovations are still planned, notably exterior awnings and a re-launched website. Our Facebook page continues on at facebook.com/hubcomics. It’s the best of the old Hub, with a few small changes to enhance your browsing, shopping, and reading experience.

If you have a friend who used to shop here, please let him or her know we’re back in a big way. And please stop in, look around, and say “hello.” Our Frequent Graphic Novel Buyer Program is still on, so make sure you’re in our computer. Also continuing is our subscription service for regular readers, so if you buy 5 or more monthly comics and wish to save 10% on all new and recent single-issue comics, sign up today!
